Google Analytics 4 Upgrade

Firstly what is Google Analytics?

Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports what users are doing on your website. The current version is Version 3 (and it’s super awesome!).  It is highly likely we have installed Google Analytics on your website.

Do I need it / use it?

If you have ever done (or have been offered) a Microsoft Teams meeting with us where we run over your "website statistics" - then we were using Google Analytics to show you what users were doing on your website.

The new version

Google has released Version 4 of Analytics, and by the 1st of July 2023, Version 3 of Analytics will no longer collect data about visitors to your site.  Unfortunately we have found Google Analytics 4 to be difficult to use, has bugs in its interface and doesn’t report eCommerce data accurately (yes we’ve reported eCommerce data anomalies to Google, and they just respond with the same “canned” response).

Do I need to upgrade?

Short answer is yes – if you want to continue getting data about what users are doing on your site.

Is there a cost to this?

The cost to upgrade are as follows:

• Normal Website - $176
• eCommerce Website - $330

Note some clients may have this covered under their retainer arrangement with us.
